Vic: Jobs marker diverse and vibrant: Lenders
Victorian Treasurer JOHN LENDERS says the state has a diverse and vibrant jobs market
.. but also has the challenge of redeploying redundant workers into new jobs.
Mr LENDERS has downplayed the significance of recent job losses on the economy .. saying
new jobs are being created in their place.
He's told ABC Radio more than 52 thousand new positions opened up last year .. more
than any other state.
Mr LENDERS says jobs will be stimulated by state projects like the channel deepening
project .. and construction of the north-south water pipeline and desalination plant.
And he says the 316 million dollar training reforms package .. announced yesterday
.. will also help retrain workers into new jobs to tackle the skills shortage.
