FED:Smith unmoved by polls on Afghan war
Defence Minister STEPHEN SMITH says he's not surprised by polls showing the public
wants Australian troops pulled out of Afghanistan .. but insists the effort will continue
until 2014.
Seventy-two per cent of respondents to a Yahoo7 internet poll say they want Australia
to withdraw from the decade-old war.
Mr SMITH says the fatal shooting on Monday of 23-year-old combat engineer Sapper ROWAN
ROBINSON was testing public support .. following the deaths of three other Australian
soldiers since late May.
